Rental Information – All you need to know
Documents at handover
The renter and the driver must present an identity card or passport, a valid driver's license as well as a means of payment valid for at least 30 days from the date of return of the vehicle and accepted by CarVia.
A driver's license not issued in Latin script (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.) must be presented supplemented with an international driver's license. In the case of driver's licenses from countries that are not members of the international driver's license agreements, a certified translation is required in addition to the original driver's license.
Deposit (security deposit)
It is mandatory to present a valid means of payment when picking up rental car.
CarVia accepts credit and debit cards from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover or JCB. Prepaid cards cannot be accepted as a means of payment.
The means of payment must be issued in the name of a renter, must be presented at the time of vehicle pickup and must be valid for at least 30 days at that time. CarVia reserves the right to accept credit card payments only in conjunction with the PIN.
As a security measure, the means of payment is charged with a deposit amount. The amount of the deposit depends on the rented vehicle. It will be shown in the booking process online.
Minimum age & young driver fee
Different minimum age requirements apply to different rental cars. These are mandatory.
In addition, young drivers who have only met the minimum age less than 2 years ago cannot reduce the deductible for comprehensive insurance. In this case, a young driver fee is due.
Cancellation policy
All bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 1 week before the start of the rental period. The cancellation should be made by e-mail to .
From then until the start of the rental, a cancellation fee of 30% of the total rental cost will be charged. If the vehicle is not picked up (no show), the entire rental price will be due.
